*Between 1742 and 1774 and by local agreement of landowners within the Longhope parish, tithes were paid twice each year to the parish: once at Midsummer and once at Xmas. A mark ('X') is placed against each name, once for each payment. However, from 1774 some local landowners entered into an agreement to pay an agreed yearly sum in lieu of the tithe.
